Publication Frequency
Plant Science Horizons follows a regular, structured publication schedule to ensure the timely dissemination of high-quality scientific research. The journal publishes one volume per calendar year, with two issues per volume (semiannual publication).
Issue Schedule
The journal publishes two issues annually according to the following schedule:
- Issue 1: June
- Issue 2: December
Each issue is compiled and released on a fixed schedule to maintain consistency, reliability, and compliance with international publishing standards.
Early Access / Online First Publication
To facilitate rapid dissemination of accepted research, Plant Science Horizons operates an Early Access (Online First) system.
Under this model:
- Articles are published online immediately after acceptance, peer review, and final production
- Each article receives its final DOI (Digital Object Identifier) upon online publication
- Early Access articles are fully citable and accessible before being assigned to a specific issue
Once an issue is formally published, Early Access articles are incorporated into the appropriate issue of the current volume.
Continuous Publication Workflow
The journal adopts a continuous publication workflow within each issue cycle. This means that:
- Accepted articles are processed and published as soon as they are ready
- There is no need to wait for all articles in an issue to be finalized
- This approach reduces publication delays and improves the visibility of research
Publication Timeline
The typical timeline for manuscript processing is as follows:
- Initial editorial screening: 3–7 days
- Peer review process: 2–6 weeks
- Revision period (authors): varies depending on required changes
- Final decision: within 1–2 weeks after revision
- Production and publication: 1–2 weeks after acceptance
The journal aims to ensure an efficient and transparent editorial process while maintaining rigorous peer review standards.
Regularity and Consistency
Maintaining a consistent publication schedule is a key priority for Plant Science Horizons. The journal is committed to:
- publishing issues on time
- ensuring continuity of volumes and issues
- maintaining a stable and predictable publication cycle
- meeting the requirements of indexing and abstracting services
Special Issues
In addition to regular issues, the journal may publish special issues or thematic collections focused on emerging or high-impact topics in plant science.
Special issues:
- are managed by guest editors or the editorial team
- follow the same peer review and editorial standards as regular issues
- may be published within the regular issue schedule or as supplementary content
Commitment to Timely Publication
Plant Science Horizons is committed to minimizing delays in the publication process. Through efficient editorial management, continuous publication practices, and Early Access release, the journal ensures that high-quality research is made available to the scientific community as quickly as possible.
Future Expansion
As the journal grows and receives an increasing number of high-quality submissions, the publication frequency may be adjusted (e.g., quarterly or continuous issue-based publishing) to accommodate demand and enhance dissemination.
Any changes to publication frequency will be clearly communicated on the journal website.
